Liverpool ‘like’ two stars
Liverpool have identified two stars they would like to sign to boost their attacking options.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano says Leeds United’s Raphinha and Villarreal’s Arnaut Danjuma are on the Reds’ transfer list, but that moves for either of them would be very difficult this month.
Sadio Mane and Mo Salah will leave Merseyside for the African Cup of Nations and Romano says Klopp only wants players who benefit the club in the long run.
“Liverpool will only enter into it if they have an opportunity which is also for the future. So they don’t want to sign a player for just six months or 3/4 games with Mo Salah and Sadio Mane leaving the club for the African Cup, ”Romano said.
“They will jump into it if they find an opportunity like Diogo Jota, a player with a good price without a crazy price tag and with good skills that match Jurgen Klopp’s ideas. So if they can find this kind of opportunity, Liverpool He’s looking for that type of player in the transfer market, a winger, that’s the priority.
“They like players like Raphinha from Leeds or Danjuma from Villarreal. But it is very difficult to sign them in January.”
Arsenal backed to sign Lamptey ‘phenomenal’
Arsenal are being backed up to make a move by Brighton side Tariq Lamptey.
The former Chelsea player has just returned from a long-term hamstring problem, but his good form last season has alerted the Gunners.
Former forward Noel Whelan told Football Insider: “ You can see what they are doing. They’re trying to get that young man into the team and sign the best youth players around.
“Lamptey is very exciting, very fast. You can imagine him and (Bukaro) Saka on that right side. It would be great, try to keep up with those two guys.
“He has done enough, he is an exciting player. It won’t just be Arsenal watching him. There will be other clubs sniffing around you if you keep playing the way you do.
“A really good young player. Arsenal are showing the intention of not wanting to stop where they are.
They want to progress, bring in new players, strengthen the team and move on to Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea.
“That’s where you are used to seeing Arsenal, in those top four.”
