UFC heavyweight title contender Cyril Gane has shared his thoughts on leaked images of himself and his upcoming opponent Francis Ngannou.
Before their clash for the heavyweight title at UFC 270, Gane and Ngannou have been questioned to comment on their training footage where the challenger can be seen as the more handsome fighter than the current heavyweight champion.
Revealing his real take on the matter, Gane, who will try to beat Ngannou and win his first UFC heavyweight title, admitted that there were also other clips where Ngannou had an “advantage” over him, but the one that has become Viral recently was the one that made him “look good.”
“It is true that in that clip, I am not going to lie, it was a smooth fight and I was able to develop my game with confidence,” Gane said through French media La Sueur. “There were other sparring sessions where [Francis Ngannou] had more advantage. Once it was me, once it was him. To say that he was way ahead, no, is not necessarily true. But it’s true that this particular clip made me look good. “
Ngannou had previously expressed his thoughts on said video and according to the champion, it doesn’t make any sense as it was meant to show that Gane was “the man” given that it is for a promotion of their fight.
“When I saw that footage, my first reaction was laughter,” Ngannou explained. “Because I know exactly what happened in those training sessions. But this is the question. When they want to like, highlight, they always choose the part of the video that they use. And they have a lot of videos like that because, at the time, they were filming our training session to promote him and his fight and everything. So there were a lot of images from those few training sessions. But many of them never went out and never would. And I know for a fact that they will never come out.
“Is about [making] make him look better and make me look bad, to show he’s the man. “
