Google is rumored to be releasing its first smartwatch in a while, and we recently learned that it is planned for a 2022 launch. Now shortly after, the first images of Google’s smartwatch leaked online, giving us an idea of what it will look like. Let’s take a look at the circular Google Pixel Watch that could compete with the Apple Watch next year.
Here’s the first look at the Google Pixel Watch
According to the leaked marketing images of the alleged Pixel Watch (courtesy of YouTuber Jon Prosser), it is expected to come with a circular dial with a bezel-less display. In the pictures, the smartwatch is seen with a single large button on its right side. This could possibly be to facilitate navigation and interaction. Also, we expect the watch to come with brightly colored bands, including orange, blue, and white. From the looks of it, the smartwatch looks attractive.
For those who have not been aware, this is the information that Prosser had previously revealed through another YouTube video about seven months ago. So there is a chance that this will become a reality for the Google Pixel Watch.
We don’t know for sure the exact name of Google’s smartwatch. However, multiple references to “Pixel Watch” show that it could be called the same way. The Google Pixel Watch is expected to launch in the first half of 2022. It was previously expected to launch alongside the Pixel 6, but that didn’t happen, possibly due to global chip shortages.
As for other details, the Pixel Watch is said to be codenamed “Rohan” and could come with features like a heart rate monitor, SpO2 monitor, ECG monitoring support, and more. The Google Pixel Watch is being developed by the Pixel hardware team and not the Fitbit team.
In addition, Google also plans to make use of its acquisition of Fitbit and introduce a Fitbit-Wear operating system integration, which could debut on the Pixel Watch. It could be part of the Wear OS 3 update. One thing to note here is that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 already has the Wear OS 3 build with Samsung One UI on top.
In addition to this, Prosser reveals that Google’s first foldable Pixel is not canceled unlike the previous leak. It remains to be seen when it will see the light of day. Since these details are not from Google, we must take them with a pinch of salt and wait for official confirmation from the company itself. However, how do you find the design of the next Google Pixel Watch? Let us know in the comments below.
