Gujarat head clerk exam cancelled after paper leak, re-exam next year

On Tuesday, an examination of the Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board (GSSSB) was canceled to fill 186 main secretary vacancies after the the questionnaire was leaked, and will be held again in March next year.

Gujarat’s Minister of State (Home) Harsh Sanghavi, announcing the new test, said that everyone involved in the leak had been arrested.

A day after more than 88,000 candidates took the December 12 exam, Yuvrajsinh Jadeja, vice president of the state AAP youth wing, claimed that he had evidence that the questionnaire was leaked one night before the exam and sold for Rs. 6 lakh-12 lakh in various parts of the state.

Subsequently, the police arrested eight people who allegedly sold the leaked question paper in Sabarkantha, and an employee of an Ahmedabad printing company hired by the board to print it.

“Those who have bought the filtered paper will also be retained. We will ask the legal department to make sure the case is tried in a fast track court, ”Sanghavi said.

The deputy minister said the decision to retest was made by the prime minister in consultation with the board and police officers.

“Everyone who has applied this year will be eligible to appear in it,” he added.
