Interacting with the media on Friday morning, Saurashtra University Vice Chancellor Professor Nitin Pethani said that the university team declared the economics test taken on Thursday null and void. “After receiving reports of paper leakage, we filed a complaint with the police. The primary police investigation has revealed that the document had started circulating on WhatsApp groups about an hour before the scheduled start of the examination, showing that the document was indeed leaked. Therefore, we have decided to declare void the exam taken on Thursday and to take the exam again on January 3, “he told The Indian Express.

Professor Pethani said that the examination for the third semester of BCom began in 80 centers of the university on December 22. The exam for the economics job began at 10 a.m. Thursday and continued until 12.30 p.m., with about 18,000 students showing up, he said. .

However, around 2 pm, AAP workers complained to the VC alleging that the paper had been leaked. Late on Thursday night, the university team filed a complaint with the University police station and an FIR was filed.

“We have registered a FIR under sections 406 of the IPC (criminal breach of trust), 409 (criminal breach of trust by a public servant, banker, merchant or agent), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), etc. and we started the investigation. Some people have been detained and are being questioned, ”said Inspector AS Chavda, in charge of the university police station.

Incidentally, the questionnaires for the exam were printed by Surya Offset, a Sanand-based printing company that is under police scrutiny for the alleged leak of questionnaires in the recruiting exam for chief secretaries of the state government. “Surya Offset was awarded the printing contract after it emerged as the L1 (the one that has quoted the lowest cost) in the tender. At this stage, it is unclear where the question paper was leaked from. The police are investigating the case and we are giving our full support in the investigation, ”added Professor Pethani.
