Lauren Jauregui Says That Leaked Photos “Definitely Outed” Her Before She Was Ready to Come Out

Lauren Jauregui just opened up about her experience coming out as a teenager, and she says it wasn’t exactly what she expected. The former Fifth Harmony member made an appearance on the latest episode of Talk at the red table: Los Estefan, where she reflected on having been denounced by the press when she was still part of the girl group.

“He had been dating the girlfriend he had at the time for probably a year at the time, but we fell in love when he was 15 years old,” he told the Estefans. “I was at my uncle’s wedding in New Orleans and my aunt very innocently posted the photos from the photo booth on her Facebook page.” He went on to say that the link to the photo album was for his family, but fans quickly found the image where he was kissing his girlfriend at the time.

Lauren revealed that the photo later fell into the hands of celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton, who she says gave her away with one of his posts.

“He definitely gave me away. I wasn’t ready because I’m also Latina,” explained the “Lento” singer. “There was this whole looming thing of, ‘How is my community going to feel about me? Are they even going to accept me? ‘ I know my family obviously accepted me. But was that something he was willing to deal with on a public scale? I felt my own process was violated. “

Perez Hilton, who has revealed celebrities like Lance Bass and Neil Patrick Harris in the past, took to Twitter to share his stance on Lauren’s situation.

“When I apologize for something -” When I apologize for something – [it’s] because I meant it and I am really sorry, “he wrote.” I am NOT sorry for that tweet about @Lauren Jauregui. That didn’t ‘get’ her out.

He went on to explain that his fans were the ones who made the photos go viral online and that he only intervened when they were already circulating on his timeline. “I do not regret that. I never claimed or presumed anything about his sexuality,” he finished his statement.

After the interview aired, Lauren posted a series of tweets to encourage her fans to refrain from sending hate messages to anyone. “I want to make it clear that I am speaking of these things from a healed place,” he wrote. “I don’t want to repeat the drama or center my story on any of these events, they were my contribution to a larger conversation about cyberbullying.”

“No matter who they are or what was done, returning the poison does not solve anything and contributes to this disgusting culture of anonymously telling someone to hurt themselves or sending them harmful things,” he continued. “I don’t approve, I don’t want any of you to do that in my defense.”

In front of her Red table talk appearance, Lauren released a 7-song EP called PRELUDE, which includes songs like “Colors” and “On Guard” with 6lack. According to PersonsPérez has not spoken to Lauren since the incident, but has reached out to his ex-girlfriend, who was also photographed.
