The director, employee and laborer of a university in the city of Babra in the Amreli district along with three students were detained by the police on Friday after they allegedly leaked the questionnaire for the economics exam of the third semester of the Bachelor of Commerce program (BCom) from Saurashtra University (SU) on Thursday.
Hours earlier, the SU declared the exam conducted on Thursday null and void and announced a new exam on January 3. questionnaire, he had printed the economics questionnaires, but added that it was not yet clear where it was leaked.
Hours after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers alleged that the questionnaire for the economics exam was circulating in WhatsApp groups before the exam began at 10 a.m. Thursday, the SU exam controller submitted a Complaint to the University Police Station. An FIR under the sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 406 (criminal breach of trust), 409 (criminal breach of trust by a public servant, banker, merchant or agent) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy), is recorded on Friday.
Dilawar Kureshi, Principal of Sardar Patel Law College (SPLC) in Amreli City in Babra, SPLC Secretary Rahul Panchasara, Pawn Bhikhu Sejaliya and BCom Paras Rajgor, Divyesh Dhaduk and Elise Chowatiya third semester students from different universities they were also detained.
SPLC was one of 80 test centers where BCom exams were taking place since December 22.
At a press conference, Manoharsinh Jadeja, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II), said that Kureshi broke the seal on the package of questionnaires delivered to his camera at 8 a.m. Thursday, clicked on the photos of one of the documents and the sent to Panchasara. . “The director claims that he leaked the newspaper at the request of the laborer. However, prima facie, no financial transaction was made for filtering the questionnaire, ”said Jadeja.
The DCP added that the laborer had asked the director and secretary to present his relative Paras Rajgor, who was due to take the exam on Thursday, with a copy of the questionnaire. Paras then sent the photos from the questionnaire to his friend Dhaduk, who, in turn, sent them to Chowatiya. Chowatiya shared the photos from the newspaper on a WhatsApp group, ”said Jadeja.
Police said Rajgor, Dhaduk and Chowatiya are residents of Mevasa Village of Surendranagar District, Santhali Village of Rajkot District and Kotda Pitha.

After declaring the exam void, Professor Nitin Pethani, Vice Chancellor (VC) of Saurashtra University, said: “After receiving the complaints, we filed a police complaint. The primary investigation revealed that the document began circulating on WhatsApp groups about an hour before the exam. Therefore, we decided to declare the exam void and take the exam again on January 3 ”.
Professor Pethani said the B.Com third semester exam began at 80 test centers on December 22 and about 18,000 students attended economics work on Thursday. Around 2 pm, AAP workers complained to the VC alleging that the paper had been leaked. Late on Thursday, the university team filed a complaint at the university police station and an FIR was subsequently filed.
“We have registered a FIR under Sections 406 of the IPC (criminal breach of trust), 409 (criminal breach of trust by a public servant, banker, merchant or agent), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), etc., and we started the investigation. Some people have been detained and are being questioned, ”said Inspector AS Chavda, in charge of the university police station.
“Surya offset was awarded the printing contract after L1 (the one that has quoted the lowest cost) emerged in the tender. It is not clear where the questionnaire was leaked from, ”added Professor Pethani.
Headquartered in Rajkot, SU is one of the largest public universities in the state in terms of student enrollment. It has jurisdiction over the districts of Rajkot, Morbi, Surendranagar, Jamnagar, Devbhumi Dwarka and Porbandar.
