The Tirana Public Prosecutor’s Office is currently investigating the leak of what appears to be confidential tax data of all adults employed in the country.

An Excel file circulates online that contains the data of 637,138 citizens, mainly through WhatsApp. They have also been published on various media portals.

The file contains the names, identification numbers, monthly salaries, positions and employer names of hundreds of thousands of Albanian citizens. It is believed to have originated from the offices of the Albanian Internal Revenue Services.
