RAJKOT: Six people, including a university principal, were arrested for their alleged involvement in the leaking of the B.Com senior exam questionnaire from Saurashtra University in Gujarat’s Rajkot city, police said on Friday. An FIR was filed in Rajkot after the macroeconomics questionnaire was shared on Whatsapp an hour before the examination was to take place on December 22, authorities said.

“We have arrested six people, including the head of the Sardar Patel Law School in Amreli, his two staff members and three students. The document was first leaked on WhatsApp at 9:11 AM, almost one hour before the exam started on December 22. ” “said an official from the University police station.

“All six have been registered under sections 406 and 409, related to criminal breach of trust, and 120 (B) (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC, as well as the provisions of the Information Technology Act,” he said.

The exam was held on Dec. 22, and about 18,000 students showed up, Saurashtra University Vice Chancellor Nitin Pethani said, adding that a new exam will be held on Jan.3. This incident comes shortly after the December 12 government chief secretary’s recruiting exam questionnaire was leaked, resulting in several arrests. Some 88,000 candidates had taken the exam, which has now been canceled.
