Great news for PS4 and PS5 players this weekend as a new open beta test has started, adding a new free game to download from the PlayStation Store.
And that’s not to mention the special Call of Duty Vanguard Free Access Weekend running over the next few days for everyone, including crossover play.
2021 has included many different titles to play without the need for PlayStation Plus or purchasing a season pass, with the latest being King of Fighters XV.
The latest in a long line of popular fighting games, KOF 15 introduces its second beta version on the PlayStation platform this weekend.
Because this is a trial, players will only be able to replay parts of the final product this weekend for free.
The good news is that KOF 15 will not require a PlayStation Plus subscription and includes the following modes:
- Online: Casual Match, Room Match.
- Offline: Versus, Training, Tutorial.
SNK has also provided a list of fighters to try out on PS4 and PS5 today, including Krohnen, Isla, Meitenkun, Antonov, K´, Blue Mary, Ryo Sakazaki, and Terry Bogard.
The development team warned that there could be bugs during the trial period that could affect playtime.
They have also confirmed that the new King of Fighters XV trial period is scheduled to end on Monday, December 20.
Cross-play has been enabled, which means you can take on your friends regardless of the platform they’re using.
For those who want to know more about the free trial period and the franchise, here is a quick update on the project from SNK, who told fans in October:
The King of Fighters (KOF) first entered the scene in 1994 and became one of SNK’s premier fighting game series. Excluding derivatives, the series has now reached the top 15 titles (currently KOF XV), and its classic 3v3 team battle system is as solid as ever. KOF is also known for its huge roster, and KOF XV isn’t far behind in this department either, boasting 39 playable characters at launch. Vibrant and powerful special moves rock the stage with Shatter Strike, a new gameplay mechanic introduced in KOF XV that makes fights more exciting than ever.
“Try the Open Beta Test when it launches to experience the game and all of its fun and crazy fighting systems.
What is a fighting game without different fighting modes? This open beta test has many features to keep you busy.
“There are two online and two offline modes; Casual Match and Room Match can be accessed online, while Training and Versus are available offline. Room Match in particular introduces the newest feature in KOF XV: Draft Vs, which is sure to take your fights to a whole new level. “
Another option this weekend for those hoping to try something new is Call of Duty Vanguard, which can be downloaded and played with a PS Plus subscription until December 21.
The free trial includes a total of ten different maps, as well as four classic multiplayer modes.
Better yet, fans can enjoy double XP bonuses on Operator Weapons and everything in between.
