Internet download speeds of three of the four mobile operators found substandard in the Rajshahi division, says latest Quality of Service (QoS) test drive report from Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC) .
Only Banglalink, the third largest mobile operator in the country, met the provision of standard Internet services in the region.
BTRC prepared the report after conducting a comprehensive Quality of Service (QoS) assessment through a test drive at different locations in the Rajshahi division from August 29 to September 22, 2021.
The benchmarks for the 4G download speed test were 7 Mbps. In the test drive, however, the speed of Grameenphone, Robi and the state-owned Teletalk were found only 4.45 Mbps, 6.28 Mbps and 2, 58 Mbps respectively.
On the other hand, Banglalink’s 4G download speed was found at 7.05Mbps.
However, BTRC found that all mobile operators are meeting call drop benchmarks.
At the end of October, the total number of mobile phone subscribers in the country reached Rs 18.13 million and Internet subscribers to Rs 12.91 million.
Of the total mobile phone users, 8.41crore use Grameenphone while 5.35 crore Robi, 3.71crore Banglalink and 64 lakh Teletalk.
