The Tamil Nadu Public Utilities Commission (TNPSC) has released the revised and updated syllabus for the Combined Civil Services Exam – II. In addition to the syllabus, the Commission has also published the sample question document for the preliminary and main examinations. Candidates who wish to apply must go through the revised curriculum of the official website tnpsc.gov.in. To download the same, take a look at the steps below.
Step 1- Go to the official TNPSC website at tnpsc.gov.in
Step 2- In the ‘Recruitment’ menu, click on ‘Study Program’ and then click on ‘Revised Study Program’
Step 3- Scroll down the page and find ‘Civil Services Combined Exam – II (Group II and IIA)
Stage 4- Click on ‘Outline and Curriculum (Revised)’ and ‘Sample Questions Document (Preliminary and Main)’
Step 5- They will be displayed in a new tab.
Step 6 Download and save it for future reference.

The preliminary examination will follow an objective pattern and will last for 03 hours. The exam will have a maximum of 300 points, while the mark for all the communities will be 90. A total of 200 questions will be formulated. There will be three articles to know:
- General Tamil or General English (SSLC Standard) – 100 questions
- General Studies (Standard Grade) – 75 questions
- Mental Ability and Ability Test (SSLC Standard) – 25 Questions
This will be followed by the main descriptive written exam. There will be two jobs in this stage and they will have a duration of 03 hours each. Work I will have a maximum of 100 points with 40 as qualification points. On the other hand, Test II will have a maximum of 300 points, the qualification marks being 90.
This will be a mandatory Tamil Eligibility document from the SSLC standard. It will include translation, summary writing, comprehension, clue development, essay writing (general), letter writing (official), and knowledge of the Tamil language.
The second assignment will be a standard grade general studies assignment following a descriptive pattern. This document must be answered in its entirety in English or Tamil. Note that the answer sheets for Test II of those candidates who do not obtain the minimum marks in Test I. will not be considered.
