Former Sri Lanka starter Sanath Jayasuriya is a legend in his country’s game. The former Lanka captain has been one of their most prolific hitters with 6,973 Tests runs and 13,430 ODI runs before retiring. However, Jayasuriya has never been too far from controversy, whether he was banned for two years for not cooperating with the ICC’s anti-corruption team or allegedly leaking a sex tape of his then-girlfriend and later wife, Maleeka Sirisena.
In 2017, Jayasuriya sparked a lot of controversy when he was accused of leaking the sex tape of his then-girlfriend Maleeka Sirisena. The sex tape allegedly shows Jayasuriya together with his ex-girlfriend and was also widely circulated on WhatsApp and other social media platforms. Various reports claimed that Jayasuriya decided to post the sex tape to get revenge on Sisisena.
Maleeka Sirisena is the ex-wife of the business mogul
Maleeka is the wife of a business mogul and had blamed Jayasuriya for the leak of the sex tape. Maleeka also claimed that she was engaged to Jayasuriya and that the engagement ceremony took place in a small temple.
The sex tape incident was first reported by the Colombo Telegraph. It should be noted that the former Sri Lankan captain was married three times, but all three of his marriages failed. Jayasuriya was first married in 1998 to Air Sri Lanka’s ground host, Sumudu Karunanayak, but the marriage ended after just one year.

Jayasuriya then married flight attendant Sandra De Silva in 2000 and the couple was blessed with three children. But the former Mumbai Indians off-roader began dating Maleeka in 2012 and divorced his second wife, Sandra De Silva, due to their affair.
Jayasuriya was the starter for Sri Lanka when they lifted the World Cup. He has played 586 international matches (110 tests, 445 ODI and 31 T20I) over two decades and crushed 42 centuries. It has also claimed 440 plots of land in all three formats.
